Dress Code
An employer’s image is often created through its employee’s attitude and fresh, pressed appearance. For this reason, employers are very particular with respect to employee’s attire and grooming. As a result, Northwest Renewable Energy Institute has adopted a dress code which will assure you of being in step with even the most conservative of employers.
Pants
All students are required to wear jeans. Pants with belt loops must be worn with a solid black leather belt. Pants cannot have patch pockets or pockets on the legs. No baggy or jeans with holes.
Male Accessories and Grooming
Students may not wear any jewelry. NW-REI name badge is required and may be worn with a lanyard. Hair must be clean, cut, styled, neatly combed; if worn long, hair must be tied back at all times. Sideburns may not be below the ear. Shaving is required daily. Mustaches must be neatly trimmed. Handlebars or muttonchops are not allowed. Fingernails need to be trimmed to a length no longer than the end of the fingertip and worn without polish.
Female Accessories and Grooming
Students may not wear any jewelry. NW-REI name badge is required and may be worn with a lanyard. Moderate makeup enhances your natural beauty. Too much makeup can be overwhelming. Nails should be a conservative length and worn without polish. Hair must be clean, cut, and neatly styled. If worn long, hair must be tied back at all times.
Uniform and Clothing Care Requirements
Outerwear cannot be worn in the classrooms or hallways. Uniform shirts and pants must appear to be freshly laundered and pressed each day.
Uniform Shirts and Baseball Hats
Students are to purchase uniform shirts with the NW-REI logo through Student Services. Two shirts are required, however, we recommend three to five of them. Students may purchase NW-REI logo baseball hats to be worn in the field only, no other hats will be allowed.
Shoes
Students must wear leather work shoes or boots, steel-toe and at least ankle-high is required.
Book Bag
Students will need to have a book/supply carrier. They should be a solid color or two tone; contrast piping is okay – no pictures or advertising other than “JANSPORT” “EDDIE BAUER”,” GUESS”, or the like.
Interview Attire
A two-piece tailored suit in conservative colors is recommended. For women, a skirt is recommended, but a pant suit will also do.
